Publication standards

Editorial policy

How RoamVPN.com selects sources, qualifies claims, handles dates and corrections, and separates technical education from marketing.

Editorial mission

RoamVPN.com explains VPN technologies and travel-security workflows in language that makes scope and limitations visible. We do not treat a product category as a promise. “VPN,” “private,” “secure,” “elite,” and “anonymous” are evaluated as claims that require context, architecture, and evidence.

Source standards

For platform and protocol facts, we prefer primary sources: operating-system documentation, standards bodies, government cybersecurity publications, and original protocol materials. Secondary sources may help identify questions but should not replace primary documentation for a technical assertion. Provider-specific features are described using current provider documentation and clearly separated from general platform behavior.

Each long-form Field Note includes one editorial outbound source in its article body. This keeps the source relationship visible without turning the page into a link directory. Internal links provide the broader RoamVPN context.

No invented evidence

We do not fabricate speed-test results, user counts, server inventories, awards, audits, testimonials, rankings, or search-volume figures. Performance depends on device, location, protocol, endpoint load, network quality, and destination. When direct testing is not available, we state the evaluation method rather than inventing a result.

Dates and updates

Publication dates identify when an article was first published. Modification dates change only after a substantive correction, source update, structural revision, or material clarification. Cosmetic edits do not automatically reset every page to the current date. Older guidance should be checked against current operating-system and provider documentation.

Independence and commercial relationships

The delivered static site contains no affiliate links, paid rankings, sponsored placements, checkout flow, VPN subscription, or account registration. If a future deployment introduces a commercial relationship, the relevant page should disclose it clearly before any recommendation or tracked link.

Corrections and disagreements

Send corrections to [email protected]. Include the URL, quoted statement, proposed correction, and supporting primary source. A disagreement about preference is different from a factual error; both can be useful, but the correction process focuses first on verifiable scope, terminology, dates, and platform behavior.

Safety and legal context

VPN availability and permitted use vary across networks and jurisdictions. RoamVPN.com provides general technical education, not legal, compliance, employment, or security consulting advice. Readers handling regulated or high-risk information should follow qualified organizational and legal guidance.
